The famous astrophysicist and Director of the Hayden Planetarium, New York, Neil de Grasse Tyson once said that in order to advance technologically, all branches of science must be funded. At the NUST Science Society we favor no field of science over the other. To us, medicine and engineering are just as important as astronomy and chemistry. After all, our talented members bring a plethora of skills to the table and through their cross pollination, every one of our events is made possible. The same is with science and almost every great breakthrough. Following this model has been extremely successful for us and we intend to continue with it.
NUST School of Chemical and Materials Engineering commenced its journey in 2006 as a postgraduate research oriented institution of NUST. Established as a Centre of Excellence and a precursor for research and development in public and private sector of the country, it soon earned the repute in the sectors of alternative energy, energetic engineering, materials and surface disciplines. Starting its under graduate program in 2008, the school aims to produce highly trained engineers, scientists and researchers who distinguish themselves by their professional competence, pragmatic approach towards problem solving and organizational abilities. As the sponsor institution for NUST Science Society, SCME has played an important role in the development and progress of the society's plans. Without the extensive support and involvement of its faculty and administration, society would have been a mere dream, yet to come true.
